Dunstable Landmark Feature
A prize-winning scheme for a central clock feature in the market town of Dunstable to commemorate its past, present and future. The design combines the skills of architect, artist and landscape architect using local materials.
The use of a conventional chronometer has been discarded as anachronistic in the days of mobile phones and digital wrist watches. Time in its simplest form is immediately available to us all. Its use must therefore be seen as reflecting time concepts and in some sense linking the past to the present and the future in a manner specific and unique to Dunstable. |
