Gasholders, Bromley-By-Bow "Architecturally the existing structure lends itself to many treatments. These may vary from simple redecoration to "intelligent" stretched skin membranes that respond to climatic changes and electronic control from within the holders. Their scale is so vast as to be monumental. They require observation from a distance to appreciate their collective impact. Close to, their individual proximity creates spaces between them more akin to the City of London. The site presents an opportunity to create a film centre for Britain capable of reviving the domestic industry and being at the forefront of new, technology based, film and communication. It would be constructed in an area that has been pinpointed as requiring major investment. The gasholders would be at the core of the new Bowllywood (Bromley-By-Bow), attracting business and public to the site, and acting as a backdrop for performance driven activity.
